I'm a baby-wearing, cloth-diapering, co-sleeping, breastfeeding, mathematical Ph.D. mama and proud of it!
Just like two half cups make a whole, my family and my mini homestead fill one half cup and my work fills the other. Okay, so I know that sounds corny, but working with students at all levels and seeing the satisfaction they get from completely solving a problem is oh-so rewarding.
Now, of course, there may be chance error coming in to play as I repeat this half cup measurement everyday, but it all evens out in the end!
Though I am a citizen of the US, I was born in the Netherlands and moved into the view of the deep blue green and purple colored mountains surrounding the Shenandoah Valley, VA when I was 7. This might lead you to believe that I have traveled a lot in my life. I'd say I have traveled a fair bit and seen some neat things, but I greatly prefer to stay in one place.
Especially, now that I am a wife to an amazing environmental scientist and mother to our two beautiful daughters, I want more than ever to put down roots and settle in for a lifetime. I have found a small green corner of Pennsylvania, complete with berry bushes, fruit trees, goats, chickens, and a rabbit, to call home. My aim is to find a mathematical department at a small college to make that home complete.
